There are countless debates online among the Dragon Ball fans about the power levels of certain characters and their transformations. Unfortunately, power levels weren’t officially measured anymore since the Frieza Saga from Dragon Ball Z, but that didn’t stop the fans from keeping speculating.
Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT are representing two different timelines, with very little to no possibility for linking their storylines. Both of them are placed after the events from Dragon Ball Z, and they both brought different powers for the most iconic character from Dragon Ball and perhaps from all the animes combined: Son Goku. Thus, Dragon Ball Super has the blue-haired Super Saiyan Blue form for Goku, while GT made a more impressive looking design for the key transformation of the beloved hero: the Super Saiyan 4 form.
SSB Goku vs. SSJ4 Goku would most likely be a draw
While most Dragon Ball fans believe that Super Saiyan 4 Goku wouldn’t stand a chance against Super Saiyan Blue Goku, the truth is that it’s very hard to guess which one is the strongest. Goku in GT became a kid once more because of a mistake made with the dragon balls, but that doesn’t mean he was weaker than he was in Dragon Ball Z. Goku has been training for ten years after the Dragon Ball Z ended, and he got involved in many fights since then. Multiple Zenkai boosts were experienced by Goku in GT, which means huge power level upgrades. It’s estimated that Goku from Dragon Ball GT in his base form is about 2,500 times stronger than his base form from Dragon Ball Z. Achieving Super Saiyan 4 in this state multiplies the base form even more by around 1600 times.
On the other side, Goku at the beginning of Dragon Ball Super was several hundred times stronger in his base form than he was at the ending of Z. All Super Saiyans joined forces to create a Super Saiyan God as Beerus wanted, and that ritual provided Goku the tremendous power increase. Goku became the Super Saiyan God, the form with our hero having red hair. But as always, Goku wanted to become even stronger and started to train alongside Vegeta under Whis’ command, the angel of Beerus. The two Saiyan rivals achieved an even greater godly transformation: the Super Saiyan Blue form (aka Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan). While there’s no telling how big the difference in power is from a Super Saiyan God to a Super Saiyan Blue, one thing’s for sure: chances are pretty low that SSB form is weaker than SSJ4. Our bet is that the two versions of Goku would make it for a draw against each other.

Well, they already did it once in Dragon Ball Heroes, but the fight was outrageously short. The two Gokus only dodged and blocked each other’s attacks, as well as for having a little beam struggle. Nobody landed at least a single blow to his opponent. The two versions of Goku belong from different timelines (aka alternative scenarios). This is one reasonable way that two different versions of the same character could meet. However, such an event also has purely scientific reasoning, although we’re talking only about an anime. If parallel Universes exist as many scientists are claiming (aka the Multiverse), every individual can have a copy of himself existing in another Universe.
However, regardless of who would win in a more durable SSB Goku vs. SSJ4 Goku fight, the outcome is less important than the simple fact of bringing such impressive transformations together in battle.
