Windows 10 November 2019 Update Officially Announced

Microsoft is expected to release the November 2019 Update for Windows 10 soon. The update is otherwise known as version 1909 and according to the blog post made by Microsoft itself, build 18363.418 will be provided to non-Insiders.

It’s the first time Microsoft confirms that a build is likely the “final build” and that it’s expected to be the one that goes out to non-Insiders. These are truly surprising decisions.

The November 2019 Update will have the same build revision number as the May 2019 Update, so when updating, you will move from build 18362.418 to build 18363.418. Both versions get the same cumulative updates, but there’s enablement package which is additional and it gets added to make it version 1909 and enable new features.

Release date

Microsoft wants to hold the tension strong. Therefore, it didn’t state anything about a specific release date for November 2019 Update for Windows 10. We can be sure that it will be pretty soon, until the end of November as the name itself suggests.

If you want to stick with the Windows 10 November 2019 Update, you’ll need to move to the Release Preview ring. The update that will be provided during the first half of 2020 will be the Fast ring, which has been testing 20H1 previews for a good amount of time. The Slow ring, which has been testing version 1909, will be moved to 20H1.

Microsoft’s senior program manager for the Windows Insider Program, Brandon LeBlanc, stated:

“We believe that Build 18363.418 is the final build and we will continue to improve the overall experience of 19H2 on customers’ PCs as part of our normal servicing cadence,” He also added:

“For customers who were given the option to install 19H2, an enablement package is downloaded from Windows Update that turns on the November 2019 Update features. This changes the build number for the OS from Build 18362 to Build 18363.

“Because they use the same servicing content, the build revision number – the number that comes after the dot – will always match between May 2019 Update and November 2019 Update. Today, customers on the May 2019 Update have Build 18362.418 but Windows Insiders on the November 2019 Update have Build 18363.418.”
