Podcasts have rapidly risen in popularity over the past decade thanks to their ease of access and personal feel. Many podcasters use their programs to communicate with a wide audience. Only a small subset made the platform into a viable source of income. Some podcasters are earning an incredible amount by hosting podcasts and connecting with millions of viewers across the globe. So here are the wealthiest podcasters in the world today.

Bill Simmons

Bill Simmons has become one of the most well-known podcasters in the sports and entertainment world. After being recruited by ESPN, Simmons left the network to host his own self-titled show. The podcast features interviews with guests such as professional athletes, actors, and other notable figures.

The Bill Simmons Podcast has consistently held its place among the top sports podcasts over the past few years and was even dubbed the replacement to ESPN. Bill Simmons was also the owner of the pop culture website The Ringer which he sold to Spotify in 2020 for $250 million. Thanks to the deal and the earnings from his podcast, Simmons is easily among the wealthiest podcasters with an estimated net worth of $70 million and yearly earnings of $7 million.

Dax Shepard

Prior to podcasting, Dax Shepard was already well known for his roles in movies and TV series such as Employee of the Month and Parenthood. In 2018, Shepard launched the Armchair Expert podcast where he provides a platform for his guest to open up about their struggles and experiences.

Armchair Expert quickly amassed a large following thanks to its personal nature and high-profile guests. As of 2022, Dax Shepard is estimated to be worth $30 million. In addition, his podcast earnings are close to $9 million every year.

Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey hosts The Ramsey Show and is one of the wealthiest podcasters in the world. Ramsey’s podcast mainly focuses on providing financial advice and helping its listeners get out of debt. The Ramsey show has been airing for over 30 years and is still going strong. What makes The Ramsey Show stand out from the crowd is listener involvement. Ramsey regularly allows listeners to call in and ask for financial advice from him or his team of financial advisers.

Being one of the most well-known finance gurus, it comes as no surprise that Dave Ramsey is making a fortune through his podcast. It is estimated that Ramsey’s podcast alone brings in around $10 million annually thanks to its millions of weekly listeners. As a result of his real estate empire, business ventures, and podcast, Ramsey is estimated to be worth $200 Million.

Pat Flynn

Another successful finance-related podcaster is Patt Flynn, who hosts the Smart Passive Income podcast. Flynn release one podcast episode per week where he discusses money-making ideas and methods to generate passive income. Flynn aims to encourage people to start their own businesses by sharing his knowledge and expertise in finance and entrepreneurship.

Flynn’s inspiration comes from his struggles during the 2008 financial crisis that pushed him to achieve success through passive income. Nowadays, Flynn is doing well financially and is making around $1.2 million yearly.

Moreover, Rogan is arguably the most recognizable name in the podcasting industry. Rogan tends to dabble in several fields of work including UFC commentating, standup comedy, and acting. However, the revenue generated from his podcast alone is more makes him the top earner among podcasters.

Furthermore, Rogan signed an exclusivity deal with Spotify for his podcast which is reported to be worth as much as $200 million. As of December 2022, Joe Rogan’s net worth is roughly $120 Million which makes him the world’s wealthiest podcaster.

Chapo Trap House

While Chapo Trap House is seen as an incredibly offensive and provocative podcast, there’s no denying its financial success despite the setbacks it has faced. The five members that host the podcast are Will Menaker, Felix Biederman, Amber A’Lee Frost, Matt Christman, and Virgil Texas.

The group regularly discusses controversial topics and harshly criticized several political candidates during the 2020 election cycle. Reddit and Twitch banned the group’s accounts for their comments. Still, Chapo Trap House remains a high-earning podcast that makes $2 million per year.

Tim Dillon

Tim Dillon’s hilarious content and background as a stand-up comedian have made his podcast a magnet for listeners looking to have a good laugh. Dillion’s experience as a comedian shines through on his podcast where he constantly dabbles with dark humor and sarcasm. Dillon originally named his podcast Tim Dillon Is Going to Hell but later renamed it to The Tim Dillon Show.

Dillion records the podcast both in video and audio formats, with the main platform used to host the content being Patreon. Dillon has over 41,000 paying subscribers on Patreon and earns close to $2.4M yearly.
