We live in a digital era in which computers and smartphones, to perform a large number of activities quickly and easily. Many users love to use their smartphone devices to reach new destinations with the help of navigation apps, watch their favorite content via streaming, or to stay in touch with their friends and families with the help of social media networks.
WhatsApp is the most popular messaging platform in the world, with hundreds of millions of active users around the globe. The service will introduce a new feature in India that could make a lot of users happy, primarily since more than four hundred million Indians use the app each month. The feature is WhatsApp Pay, which should allow users to perform financial transactions in a fast and straightforward manner.
The developer has been working on the feature since 2018, but the process was delayed by an issue related to data localization. It seems that the roadblock has been passed as the service will be released soon in several countries, among which we can count Brazil, the Philippine, and India.
The payment service will allow users to send and receive payments within the app without the need to use a different service to perform the task. It also includes the Unified Payments Interface standard that is used by a large number of merchants and service providers due to the high performance, added security and ease of use.
It is essential to highlight the fact that the integration of the UPI standard will allow the service to compete directly with Google Pay and PhonePE, the two most extensive UPI payment services found within India.
More than 10 million merchants already accept payments via electronic means, and the number will continue to rise in the future. For now, the future of the WhatsApp Pay appears to be quite promising.
