The Sims 5 Release Date Rumors: Is The Game Under Development Or Not?

The Sims is one of the most popular franchises in the world of gaming. With four main installments in the series, mobile games, and dozens of expansion packs for each release, The Sims made a name for itself in the industry. The fans, however, are getting more and more anxious as EA and Maxis refuse to reveal anything about The Sims 5. Is the franchise dead? Is The Sims 5 under development or not? Well, there some The Sims 5 release date rumors that might indicate that the devs are working on a sequel to The Sims 4.

Is The Sims 5 Under Development Or Not?

Many rumors emerged to deliver various details on The Sims 5. We don’t know (and we can’t) check how accurate are they. But, for the sake of the topic, let’s talk about some of those leaks. First, The Sims 5 would come out with many changes, improved graphics, and dozens of new features. More recent rumors even talked about the presence of ‘Parenthood’ and VR mode in The Sims 5.

We don’t know if The Sims 5 is under development right now, but it looks like the expansion packs installments for The Sims 4 are depleting. That could signal that EA and Maxis are already working on the next title in the franchise. On the other hand, it might suggest that the devs will start developing The Sims 5 once The Sims 4 lifecycle ends. And, as we speak, The Sims 4 still brings revenue for EA and Maxis.

The Sims 5 Release Date Rumors

The most common rumors regarding The Sims 5 release date suggest the next installment in the popular series would not come out before the launch of the next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two (Scarlett).

That would mean that The Sims 5 would roll out in late-2020 or 2021. However, EA and Maxis could delay The Sims 5 release date even more if The Sims 4 is still trendy among players and scores profits for the devs.
