Video conferencing is becoming more and more a widespread activity during these harsh times for all of us. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is forcing many of us to stay at home as much as possible. But besides having fun activities like watching movies, playing games, or working remotely, there’s also the great option of video calling each other.
Many online services come to lend us a hand by assuring video calling. We can remind of Viber, Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom, or the new Messenger Rooms from Facebook. Furthermore, Google couldn’t possibly fall short in this area as well, and it brings out its Google Meet service.
Use Google Meet by just adding your email address
This is the only condition that you need to match in order to use Google Meet. It’s not even mandatory that your email address has to be on Gmail. The big announcement comes from Google itself:
Over the last couple of months, we re-engineered the service we built for secure business meetings, Google Meet, to make it free and available for everyone. Check out https://goo.gle/3crRQdT, or look for it in Gmail and Google Calendar.
And here’s the official release video:

If you haven’t used Google Meet just yet, then you should consider giving it a try. As its Play Store presentation says:
Securely connect, collaborate, and celebrate from anywhere. With Google Meet, everyone can safely create and join high-quality video meetings up to 250 people.
The service offers plenty of interesting features, and we can mention the encryption in transit for video meetings, the easy access (you can join a meeting by simply accessing a link provided by one of the participants), screen sharing, and many more.
You can use Google Meet from either a smartphone or a laptop/desktop. However, you should take into account that it’s a more business-oriented service rather than one destined for casual meetings.
