Sony Might Reveal PS5 Sooner Than Expected

The reveal of the PS5 is one of the most anticipated events in the gaming world. The PS4 has been the most successful console of the current generation, with more than 100 million units being sold by the summer of 2019. Since then, the number has likely increased by a generous margin.

According to a reliable news outlet, an official announcement could be released soon if the current schedule followed by Sony will not be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is argued that a significant announcement has been planned for May, and it could be tied to the upcoming console.

However, it is essential to take into account that changes could dynamically take place as the coronavirus continues to spread across the world. The Last of Us Part 2, one of the most anticipated games of 2020, has been delayed indefinitely due to logistic issues, as it would be incredibly challenging to ship physical copies in the current context.

Both PS5 and Xbox Series X might be presented in May

Select voices have also mentioned that Microsoft is working on new Xbox Series X announcements that may take place in May and June. These announcements should replace the main Xbox event that should have taken place at E3. The renowned event was canceled along with many other festivals and conferences as social distancing has been embraced with the aim of preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

A recent report published by a popular news website anticipates that the PS5 will be accompanied by a $499 or $549 price tag at launch. The same report mentions that Sony may deliver up to six million units by the end of March 2021, which is an impressive number.

The PS5 will come with an assortment of new features, including fast internal storage, support for 8K TVs, and ray-tracing. Sony has already showcased the DualSense controller, which comes with advanced sensors and a new feedback mechanism.
