Rockstar Closes GTA Online – What Could be The Cause?

Nobody can deny that GTA Online is a massive success, and it even makes a lot of fans forget about the highly-anticipated and upcoming GTA 6. But the online mode for GTA 5 was shut down yesterday, leaving many fans in the impossibility to play their favorite game. Thankfully, the shut down was only temporary, lasting from 2 pm ET to 4 pm ET.

Rockstar Games itself made the announcement on Twitter, and the reason for the closing of the game is the recent events from the US involving George Floyd. Floyd is the citizen who died last month after a policeman knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes.

Black Lives Matter (BLM) is a human rights movement that originates in the African-American community. The movement campaigns against systemic racism and violence towards black people. BLM holds protests speaking out against police killings of black people, racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the criminal justice system from the US.

GTA V is still a highly-played game, whether we like it or not. Its Steam description is conclusive enough:

When a young street hustler, a retired bank robber and a terrifying psychopath find themselves entangled with some of the most frightening and deranged elements of the criminal underworld, the U.S. government and the entertainment industry, they must pull off a series of dangerous heists to survive in a ruthless city in which they can trust nobody, least of all each other.

The PC version of GTA V offers the players the chance to explore the game at 60 frames per second, in 4K resolution and even further. Besides the PC version, GTA V (including GTA Online, of course) can be played by those who own either one of these consoles: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game is available to purchase on Steam for 29.99 euros.
