Almost everyone is aware of the upcoming beast console from Sony and Microsoft. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X feature amazing specs. In terms of the hardware, both consoles have great potential compared to their predecessors. The future of gaming experiences on these devices looks very promising.
The excitement surrounding the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X can be seen all around the fans, and particularly around the experts. Developers are commenting on the specs of the next gaming consoles quite often.
And so does Marcin Makaj, a Moonwalls developer. Makaj is currently developing the Commander ’85 video game that is part of the adventure thriller genre. Same as the previous developers, he is excited about the potential of the next-gen consoles. His optimism could be seen very clearly in a recent interview.
But before going into details about his opinion on the upcoming devices, we need to clarify that Makaj did not test the development kits. Therefore, his view is based on the “knowledge from presentations and the internet.” The main point of his opinion is that there is not much difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
PS5 vs.Xbox Series X performance
“Both of them are a good step forward in CPU performance,” Makaj said. “The Simultaneous Multi-Threading can make a big difference – an increase in performance is always a desirable thing, but besides the difference in PlayStation 5’s more flexible approach, I honestly don’t see a clear winner here.”
The biggest difference between the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X stands in the CPU power. Sony console features 10.28 teraflops while the Xbox Series X comes with 12 teraflops. However, this difference won’t affect the player’s experience that much. Makaj has experience with both current consoles. Therefore, he believes the upcoming console from Sony to be more developer-friendly same as the PS4.
“According to my experience in developing games for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, usually I got better performance results on PlayStation 4, and I think it will stay the same for the next-gen consoles,” he said. “Having more power is always a great thing, as it opens new possibilities in terms of graphical quality.”
Commander ’85 will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. However, the release date is still unknown.
