Poldark is a British historical drama romance. The TV series was based on the novels of the same title by Winston Graham. BBC One distributed the show in the UK, while PBS has done the same in the US. Debbie Horsfield wrote and adapted the series. So far, five seasons are available, but the question is there going to be Poldark Season 6?
Poldark Plot
The story is set between 1781 and 1801. The plot follows the leading character’s return to Cornwall after the end of the American War of Independence in 1783.
Being in the army for about three years, he comes back to a new life. Lots of things changed after his arrival. His dad is dead, and Elizabeth, his sweetheart, is engaged to his cousin Francis. Besides that, his father left him in debt, and his estate is in a bad condition. Captain Ross Vennor Poldark finds himself in a difficult situation.
However, when he hires Demelza Carne as his scullery maid, everything changes. They fall in love, get married, and have kids. The story shows the couple going through lots of happy and sad moments—the loss of a child, war, and all kinds of situations.

The show is known for describing many regions, like Charlestown, Bodmin Moor, Porthcurno, Porthgwarra, Botallack, Holywell Bay, Kynance Cove, Predannack Wollar. It is one of the most popular British series. The first four seasons are an adaption after the original novels. However, the last season is based on the Stranger From the Sea and The Angry Tide novel.
Poldark Season 6 Status
Will there be a next season? Season 5 does not end the story of the Poldark novels. Therefore, producers might continue the story in Poldark Season 6. So far, the TV series is an adaptation after seven books. It means there are still five books left. Therefore, if the BBC wants to continue the series, they certainly can. However, the plan was to make only five seasons.
“When we started Poldark we aimed to complete the majority of the books that we could, which would likely take us up to series five.
“So during filming for this series there was a sense of completion and relief that we made it this far, that the show has been successful and that people enjoy watching it.
“Hitting that mark and returning for the fifth series was always the goal and we are proud to have achieved that,” said actor Turner.
