Are you a Japanese anime fan? Then you may have heard about the Made in Abyss series. The anime is based on the manga of the same name. People fall for this anime very quickly, and its popularity started to grow fast. It is one of the most admired anime series.
The series revolves around a young orphan girl that tries her best to bring back her mother. The story was written by Akihito Tsukushi and published by Takeshobo. Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn is the first season of the series, and it has 13 episodes. There is also a movie made after the manga called Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight. The film was launched in July 2019.
You might think that 13 episodes are not enough, but it covered the manga pretty well. The first season consisted and completed about three volumes of the popular manga series.
Release Date
The question is: when is Made in Abyss 2 coming out? There is no official confirmation to say precisely when the next season in out. But we have a hunch. The second movie, released on January 17, 2020, gave us a clue to be more specific. The movie’s title is Dawn of the Deep Soul, so don’t forget to check it out. The film ended with ‘To be continued’ phrase.
This might mean there will be a second season of the series or just another movie on the way. However, there is no official confirmation so far. The creators of the show did not give us feedback yet. Unfortunately, the current movie can’t be made available in the US at the moment due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Cast
The young orphan girl is the main character of the anime. Her name is Riko, and Miyu Tomita narrates her voice. Riko is from a town called Ortho that is located on an Island. However, this Island is not entirely normal as it features a gaping hole at its center called the Abyss.
Riko is getting close to a human-like robot that goes by the name Reg that leads to a nice friendship. Together, they descend into the Abyss on a mission to find her mom. We can only assume what we could expect from the upcoming series, such as Shiori Izawa, Nanachi, and Eri Kita.
Storyline
Riko is an orphan girl that lives in the Belchero Orphanage in Ortho. The weird thing about the Ortho town sits in the middle of it. The Abyss hole. Like any unusual and mysterious thing, it attracts curious people for different reasons. Some want to raid the Abyss for the artifacts, for example. However, the hole is not just mysterious but also dangerous. Only a few numbers returned from the pit and lived to tell the story.
Riko’s mother was actually a White Whistler. Therefore, the orphan daughter’s dream is to become like her mom. As the story moves forward, she meets her robot friend. After sneaking her new robot friend into the orphanage with her friends’ help, she finds out that her mom is at the bottom of the Abyss. This lives her with the drastic decision to go on a mission to save her mom.
Plot
The first season of Made in Abyss ends with Riko descending into the Abyss. But, the story doesn’t end here. How will she find her White Whistler mom? There are all sorts of horrible and scary stories about the pit. What will Riko and her robot friend encounter down there?
I’m sure all Made in Abyss fans are asking themselves those questions. The next season will be full of adventurous stories and all sorts of difficulties. More secrets of the pit are about to be unveiled. But until Made in Abyss 2 is released, you can join Riko and Reg in season 1.
