It’s 2020, and the Asian smartphone manufacturers are competing to bring to the world their most exciting gadgets. After Samsung released the Galaxy Fold tablet-phone last year in September, it’s now Huawei’s turn to launch a foldable phone.
But Huawei brings not one, but two brand new gadgets: at an event in Barcelona, the Chinese company launched its second-generation Mate Xs foldable and MatePad Pro 5G tablet.
Access denied for Google Play Store
Although the two new devices from Huawei are beautiful, those lucky people who will get their hands on them won’t have the possibility of accessing the Play Store, Google’s official app store. This is not a surprise at all since the US-trade ban on Huawei remains in place, and it will continue that way for quite a while.
Specs
The Huawei Mate Xs is a pretty impressive piece of technology: it’s equipped with a 4,500mAh split battery, a Kirin 990 5G chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of internal storage. When you unfold the device, some improvements to the display can be noticed since it’s about 80% stronger than the previous display.
On the other hand, the MatePad Pro 5G is a tablet featuring 5G support. It has the same Kirin 990 5G chipset, two versions of RAM (6 and 8GB), 256 GB of internal storage, and a 7,250mAh battery. The gadget also packs a dual-camera setup on the rear, and another camera for selfies.
Price
If you plan to buy either of the two new Huawei devices, you have to pull out a decent amount of money. You can buy the MatePad Pro 5G starting April, and it will retail for €749 for the 8GB RAM, and 256 GB version. A Wi-Fi only model will start its price at €549 for the 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage option.
With such beautiful new devices, it’s interesting to see what incomes will generate Huawei and if they will be more impressive than those of other Asian manufacturers.
