How To Get The Optifine Mod For Minecraft

Launched in 2011, Minecraft proved to the world in all these years that a video game can have a significant fan base even if it doesn’t have stunning realistic graphics. But why not try a mod for the game to improve it even more? This is why we will be talking here about Optifine Mod for Minecraft, which lets you make some customization like editing the weather conditions, getting things run smoother and improving the visuals.

First, you need to update your Minecraft game to the latest version. This is very easy, all you need is to open the game and it should tell you instantly if it needs to be updated. Then, you should just go to and grab the right link. Piece of cake!

Open the game launcher and head for the Launch Options tab, then Latest Release. The ‘Game Directory’ tool will show you where those files are located. Hopefully, you don’t have Alzheimer’s disease, therefore knowing where’s your Minecraft location on the storage should be like a walk in the park. Or if you’ve been just too lazy to bother remembering the game location, like I am, you should just use the search option from the Windows Explorer to figure out where has the game been installed.

Now let’s install Optifine and get it running: double-click the setup file, choose the folder where Minecraft is installed and hit the install button. Then normally open your game as before, go to “installations” tab, then to “New” and give your new mod a name. Next, click on the Version drop-down box and select the option with the chosen name in its title. Finally, all you have to do is to hit the Create button and you’re ready to run the mod.

Which version to choose: Ultra, Standard or Light?

As you might have guessed, the Light version is for those very old devices that struggle with running like 10 to 15 year-old games. You should definitely try the Ultra version since it’s got the real deal of the Optifine mod, all the features.

The Optifine mod is also completely free, so you have all the reasons to give it a try if you’re a fan of Minecraft.
