Xiaomi MIUI 11 is a custom ROM based on Android 10, released back in 2019. It introduced a bunch of features such as dark mode, smart reply, enhanced privacy controls, improved performance, camera settings, and more accessible options. Recently, Xiaomi decided to roll out the gesture controls function, part of a beta program available in China. With such an update, Xiaomi devices running MIUI 11 will receive Android 10 gesture controls and a navigation bar.
Activate the MIUI Gesture Navigation
To activate the gesture navigation on MIUI, you should:
- Go to Settings and choose Display;
- Tap on Full-Screen Display to enable the gestures;
You will notice the switch between recent apps, apps, and main screen gestures. The gesture controls offer more screen space. After all, you don’t need to have some navigation buttons at the bottom of your screen.
You can choose to swipe up from the navigation bar at the bottom to reach the home page. A left or right swipe from the edge of the display will take you back. Also, an upward swipe will take you to recent apps. Toggle easily between apps by swiping left or right on the navigation bar at the bottom.
MIUI 11 Gesture Controls Update Details
Xiaomi officially announced that it is rolling out the Android 10 navigation gestures only for beta users in China. The users must belong to the MIUI China Beta program. The navigation is under testing, which means that some users might experience lagging troubles during the testing period.
Moreover, the Android 10 gesture controls will be rolled out to the MIUI Global ROM soon. Xiaomi users from India can expect the global rollout in a couple of weeks, as well. New details about such a release for MIUI 11 will be officially announced. Gesture controls provide more space on the screen, so you should enable the feature and enjoy it.
