The new auto battler mode got so popular among players who spend a lot of time either playing the DOTA Auto Chess mod for Dota 2, Dota Underlords or the most popular one – Teamfight Tactics, the League of Legends themed mode.
It was time for Blizzard to make a move and create their own version, using the Warcraft universe just like they use it in Hearthstone. Called Hearthstone Battlegrounds, the auto battler game will be a mode in Hearthstone.
Let’s check out everything we know about Hearthstone Battlegrounds and see the announcement trailer that was presented yesterday (Nov. 1) at BlizzCon 2019.
Here’s the announcement trailer at BlizzCon 2019:
Like most auto battler games, Battlegrounds will have eight players competing in a battle that unfolds on a board. Players buy units from a deck and build their army, upgrading them when they find three cards of the same type. There are also synergies between units, such as three orcs or two hunters getting a bonus.
A unique addition to this genre is that Battlegrounds gives players the chance to choose a Hero with a special power at the beginning of the game and you can build your composition around that power.
Hearthstone Battlegrounds planned to have 24 Heroes at launch.
Whoever has pre-purchased the Descent of Dragons expansion, was a BlizzCon Attendee, or a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket holder can try it out starting at 10 a.m. PDT on Tuesday, November 5, for a week of early access.
Blizzard has not revealed a lot of details about the released date of the mode, but the open beta for Hearthstone Battlegrounds will begin at 10 a.m. PDT on November 12.
If you want to learn all about the mode’s gameplay, check out Blizzard’s blog post on their official Play Hearthstone website.
