With the release of one of the most awaited games of the year, The Last of Us 2, the developers announced that they entered a partnership with HBO to bring the game to the TV screens in quite the new format – a scripted live-action.
Naughty Dog made the announcements on its Twitter page. The game director of the studio, Neil Druckmann, will be involved in the series. He will make the team with Craig Mazin, the man behind 2019’s Chernobyl. He stated that: “Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”
‘Last of Us’ Will Become a TV Series
The series will be about the events of the first game, with some extra details from the new game, of course. we don’t know much about this partnership, but we know that it will be a success. Let’s remember the Uncharted series, another Naughty Dog’s game that met the cinema. The story of Nathan Drake has been in development for some time for a movie, but this is really the first mention of The Last of Us being made into a film.
We know Ellie and Joel from the game, with their famous voices of Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. We will see if they will also get the casting views for the series. The Last of Us 2’s release date is approaching, and we are interested to see how the events of the game will be put into a TV series. We are curious to know if they will simply follow the plot of the game, or they will come up with something new.
