Several years have passed since Rockstar Games released GTA 5, but the title remains popular even today. More than 115 million units have been sold since the game arrived in 2013.
While the online component of the title offers a great amount of content, many players are looking forward to the next entry in the series. There is no official announcement at this point, but, likely, work on the game is already underway.
According to a reliable source, Rockstar is recruiting new employees, among which we can count environmental artists and animation programmers. Some of the job adverts reference the creation of new and exciting open-world games that will be available on the next generation of gaming consoles.
When GTA 5 was released, some of those who bought the game for the PS4 and Xbox One complained that the title would have been considerably better if it was developed from the ground up for the new consoles, instead of being an enhanced port.
It is thought that Rockstar may want to harness the power of the upcoming devices, and the studio may not release new titles for the older generation of devices. However, this sounds like a major potential loss for the company since more than 100 million PS4 units and 41 million Xbox One units have been sold. The potential number of buyers is quite large, and it is unlikely that Rockstar or Take-Two Interactive would want to skip the opportunity.
According to some rumors, the story of the game will take place in Vice City, one of the most popular locations in the franchise, and in other locations around South America. At this point the game is developed under the codename Project Americas, and it may be a while until Rockstar decides to offer an official announcement.
Keep in mind that any rumors should be taken with a pinch of salt.
