Google Expands its AI Calling Service Duplex

Google is a true tech behemoth that doesn’t show any signs that it wants to slow down when it comes to offering high-quality and innovative services for its users. While the company from Mountain View brought some awesome services for gamers, it also thought about its AI calling service dubbed Duplex.

Although Google Duplex was initially launched for those owning Pixel smartphones, the service can now be used on pretty much any phone that has a Google Assistant app, or that can be granted access to Google Search or Google Maps. Basically, almost any Android phone from supported areas!

Google Duplex is now available for more countries

This means that many more people than before will get the chance to enjoy the wonderful benefits of the AI-powered calling service. Besides the US and New Zealand, Duplex has also become available in Australia, Canada, and the UK.

CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a blog post the following:

In the coming days, we’ll make it possible for businesses to easily mark themselves as ‘temporarily closed’ using Google My Business. We’re also using our artificial intelligence (AI) technology Duplex where possible to contact businesses to confirm their updated business hours, so we can reflect them accurately when people are looking on Search and Maps.

The emerge of Google’s Artificial Intelligence calling service has created a lot of discomfort for some critics. They are claiming that Google is making AI way too real and able to mimic human behavior as it can trick anybody that they’re speaking with an actual human being.

Whatever the truth may be, technology evolving cannot be a bad thing, generally speaking. Especially if it doesn’t hurt or try to jeopardize anybody’s rights. Google is maintaining its path towards success and providing users a lot of services capable of improving their lives and the world around us.
