FIFA 20: The Fans Voted for The Best Starting XI of All Time – Messi and Ronaldo OUT

For most soccer lovers who also like to play it virtually, FIFA 20 is the best simulation of the most popular sport in the world. The game offers over 31 leagues and more than 720 teams from around the world. For those who buy FIFA 20, the game even offers an international women team, as well as street football, and a lot more.

Recently, EA SPORTS asked the fans of the game to choose what they believe could be the best starting XI from soccer history. They voted for each player using ICON cards, and the outcome looks fabulous. Adding in a single team such players can be truly frightening for any other squad from the planet. Let’s see what the outcome of the voting was:

Goalkeeper: Lev Yashin

The vote for Lev Yashin isn’t actually a surprise. Although not everybody knows about him, he was a fabulous goalkeeper of the Soviet Union. Yashin was born in 1929, and he passed away three decades ago, in 1990. He was known for his stature, bravery, imposing presence in goal, positioning, and incredible reflex saves. He later became deputy chairman of the Football Federation of the Soviet Union.

The runner-up of Lev Yashin was the Dutch goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar, who is more well-known among the newer generations of soccer fans.

Two Brazilians in the defense

Roberto Carlos and Carlos Alberto are the two Brazilian defenders appointed by the fans for the outer lines of the defense. For their runner-ups, the fans voted for two Italian players: Paolo Maldini and Gianluca Zambrotta, respectively. There’s no wonder why the FIFA 20 gamers voted like this: Brazil has won the most World Cup trophies in history (5 pieces), and Italy comes as the second country with 4 titles of the supreme trophy in soccer.

More diversity in the middle

For the middle part of the dream squad, the fans chose the Dutch former footballer Ruud Gullit to help Andrea Pirlo in the center part of the midfield area. The runner-ups are the French footballer Patrick Vieira and another Dutch player: Clarence Seedorf.

As for the flanks, we have Ronaldinho, the legendary Brazilian star and MVP of FC Barcelona. The other player is Diego Armando Maradona. It’s practically impossible to decide which one of the two South Americans is better. The runner-ups were the Brazilian Garrincha and the French striker Thierry Henry.

In the role of playmaker and attacking midfield, it’s none other than the living legend Zinedine Zidane, former superstar for Real Madrid and the National Team of France. Zidane is the actual manager of the same Spanish club from Madrid. He was a true artist in the field, and nobody could deny that he deserves the appointed role for this dream team. The second best for Zizou’s role is Johan Cruyff, a former footballer who won the Ballon d’Or three times: in 1971, 1973, and 1974.

Ronaldo couldn’t be left aside

While a lot of us couldn’t imagine an ultimate XI squad not to have Ronaldo, it looks like the FIFA 20 gamers agree. But it’s not the Portuguese Superstar from Juventus leading the attack of this dream squad. Instead, it’s none other than the Brazilian phenomenon Ronaldo Nazario. The South American Ronaldo was a scoring machine, as he played many successful matches for Real Madrid, Inter, the Brazil National Team, and more. As for the runner-up of Ronaldo Nazario voted by the FIFA 20 fans, we have another Brazilian that you may have already guessed: Pele.

As we can all see, there is life after all without Messi and Ronaldo, the most spectacular strikers of the last decade from football history. A lot of people were expecting those two players in the squad, but it looks like they’re not good enough to at least be part of the bench.
