Facebook Messenger is, without a doubt, one of the most helpful and famous messaging apps out there. The cross-website app allows users to communicate by text, video, or images. Also, most Facebook users find the app very reliable to stay connected to their relatives and friends, signing up, too, with a phone number.
Recently, however, Facebook is slowly disabling such a feature, and ask people to sign up for a Facebook account to get the Messenger experience. According to a statement by VentureBeat, Facebook has begun disabling the feature of signing in for Messenger only with a phone number. Users will need to sign up for a Facebook account, instead, if they want to use the messaging app. Such a change, however, will only affect the latest users who wish to stay utilizing Facebook Messenger or Messenger Lite.
Facebook Messenger Now Asks For Users’ Facebook Account Instead of Phone Number
Also, Facebook’s help center approved the switch. Facebook detailed: “If you’re new to Messenger, you’ll notice that you need a Facebook account to chat with friends and close connections. We found that the vast majority of people who use Messenger already log in through Facebook, and we want to simplify the process. If you already use Messenger without a Facebook account, no need to do anything.”
Facebook may also take another turn. It might be disabling the feature slowly as we will ready to make a new account utilizing a phone number on the iOS app in India. The world’s biggest social network has also indicated at embodying its chat platform, such as WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram, into something different. We could see all of them integrated into an only end-to-end encrypted chat app, soon. Such a thing could hint a small beginning towards that aim. Plans are expected to be quickly unveiled, so stay tuned!
