Bungie and Ubisoft are Taking Popular Cheats Website to Court

In an attempt to combat cheating, Bungie and Ubisoft have joined forces and filed a lawsuit against a popular cheat seller. Ring-1 is a website that manufactures and sells cheats to give players an unfair advantage in online games such as Destiny 2 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

Ring-1 usually sell cheats via subscription which cost between 25 and 30 euros per week depending on the game and service being offered. These cheats include an aimbot, ESP, infinite ammo, and even a hardware ID spoofer to avoid getting permanently banned.

The lawsuit states that the cheats sold are resulting in massive financial damage to the game companies and had tarnished their games’ reputations among players. Ubisoft claims that cheats have caused Rainbow Six Siege players to get frustrated and quit playing the game as a result. This is also true for Destiny’s Trials of Osiris game mode and almost all competitive multiplayer PvP games.

Furthermore, Ring-1 is being sued for copyright infringement for unauthorized use of various key images and trademarked logos on their site.

Bungie and Ubisoft are looking to take down the website along with all their cheating services. Both companies are also demanding monetary compensation for all the damages caused by the cheats which could amount to millions of dollars.

The lawsuit identifies key individuals working for Ring-1 with usernames like Overpowered, Crypto, and Grizzly. These individuals are said to be the leading offenders in this case but others involved in selling cheats could also be sued if identified.

Game publishers and developers have been more active while combatting cheat sellers in recent times. Earlier this year Bungie and Riot Games sued GatorCheats in a similar fashion and were successful in taking down the site.
