A new Battlefield game, currently dubbed as Battlefield 6, will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021. Such news came after developer DICE confirmed in a statement to IGN that it would focus more on the future of Battlefield. The upcoming game, however, was first announced back in October 2019, at which time EA details that the game would be released in the company’s fiscal year 2022 (April 2021-March 2022). But now, thanks to DICE’s latest statement, we know a more specific release period, sometime in 2021.
New Battlefield 6 Installment Will Be Introduce in 2021
EA chose not to share a lot of information about the upcoming Battlefield game, but it did hint at a significant detail. The game will be “targeting innovation that will be enabled by next-gen platforms.” When the new Battlefield installment is launched, the PS5 and Xbox Series X will already be on the market.
So, we can most likely expect it to arrive on those consoles, and PC, too. EA further discussed the possibility of launching this upcoming Battlefield in 2021 instead of now, when the new consoles arrive, to take advantage of their more significant install base.
DICE and EA Confirmed Battlefield 6
Here is what EA stated: “Bringing out Battlefield [in 2020], where the new console base is relatively small, doesn’t give justice to the potential of the title, and so that’s part of our driver in moving the title into fiscal 22.” It seems that after all, the developers got ready for everything, and they could release one of the most awaited game titles in 2021.
DICE is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and in LA, California. Vince Zampella, the Respawn co-founder, is now running the LA studio, as part of the extended responsibilities of his latest promotion. 2018’s Battlefield V featured the WWII, while the 2016’s edition, was set during the WWI. The game series hasn’t yet got a modern-day launch since 2015’s Battlefield Hardline, so Battlefield 6 might do that.
