AMD RDNA 2 High-End Graphics Card Might Get Ray Tracing

AMD is now preparing to launch a bunch of new GPUs based on the AMD RDNA 2 Architecture and the Big Navi. These new GPUs are anticipated to bring some powerful and efficient features, compared to the current generation. However, it seems that the Ray Tracing feature, the most keenly awaited feature, will be introduced only by the top-end or premium versions of the latest 7nm RDNA 2 Navi 2x GPUs. While the AMD Graphics Cards, which are the flagship, will get the Ray Tracing, the AMD GPUs, budget-friendly, will receive better power efficiency.

It seems that after the die sizes of AMD’s next premium installment, Big Navi based Flagship GPU, it is clear that AMD is attempting to compete against NVIDIA’s upcoming GPUs, which will be cased on the AMphere Architecture. However, while some previous sources claimed that some NVIDIA’s GPUs would support Ray Tracing, such a thing doesn’t suit the AMD’s next Navi 2x GPUs.

Will the Ray Tracing Feature For High-End and Optimistic Radeon RX Navi 2X Graphics Cards?

From the latest reports, we can understand that AMD will be developing three different RDNA 2 GPUs for its Navi 2X graphics card series. This lineup will comprise the AMD Navi 23, AMD Navi 22, and AMD Navi 21. The AMD Navi 22 will reportedly bring one of the biggest ever commercially viable and produced GPU die size of 505 sq.mm. Also, the AMD Navi 23 will have a die size of 340 sq.mm and the AMD Navi 23, 240 sq.mm. The alleged AMD GPU sizes should be correct within +/- 5 sq.mm of the final dies.

While the reports about the big die sizes turn out to be right, it is slightly concerning to find that AMD might not develop the fiercely awaited Ray Tracing feature to all its next Big Navi based GPUs. Incidentally, AMD’s RDNA 2 GPUs will, for sure, be utilized in enthusiast-level and high-end graphics cards coming later this year.
