Most of the Chinese companies use modified versions of Android for their smartphones. Oppo and Xiaomi are the best examples – they are expanding rapidly in both Europe and Asia. In order to give access to everyone for their devices, they have released sub-brands, Realme for Oppo and Redmi for Xiaomi. They both have almost the same specs. The price is also set around the same amount. We are here to tell you which one is better
The user interface
These two companies are top-rated in China. Oppo uses a translucent notification panel. The Settings menu is full of radiant colors. The app drawer can be found easily, and you can even disable it if you want to.
Xiaomi also has translucent manus in the notification panel. The app drawer does not exist yet, but they want to include it in the next MIUI release.
However, both of them miss the fact that you cannot reply to notifications by just one tap.
The customization process and the themes
Oppo allows you to change the home screen grid layout, the swipe animation style and the opening – or closing – animation speed.
You also have a theme store, from where you can change the way your user interface looks. We are talking about color, icons, and wallpapers.
MIUI comes with changes for the home screen layout, the current design and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The theme store from Xiaomi is the best one out there. You can change everything, from wallpapers to the lock screen style, to the clock widgets.
The gestures
Both of these companies came up with full-screen gestures for both MIUI and Color OS, but they are a bit different.
When it comes to Color OS, there are many gestures you can do. Swipe up from the middle to get to Home. Swipe from the side of the bottom screen to go back. Swipe from the middle and then hold in order to open the recent apps menu.
Color OS also has a horizontal scroll bar. If you want to lock an app, you can swipe down.
Xiaomi has gotten all the gestures from iOS for iPhone X. you can swipe up to go home, swipe up and hold to get to the multitasking menu, and swipe from the side of the display to go back.
The apps menu of Xiaomi is a single-card UI, and it has a scroll bar. There are four apps shown at a time.
The smart assistant and the search
Both Oppo and Xiaomi have left behind the Google Feed menu, Color OS calls it now the Smart Assistant. It lets you get access to all the crucial information and all the tools you need with only one single swipe.
If you want to see the weather, the calendar or some quick functions – currency converter, scanner, or more – swipe left.
If you tap on the + icon, you can customize the widgets depending on your interests. But you cannot add an app widget in the panel.
If you want to see the search bar just as it is on iOS, swipe down. It will also let you get access to contacts, apps, and documents much easier
The feed menu from MIUI has a smart action shortcut – clear cache, check the PNR, call a cab. You can install apps with only one tap.
On the widget list, there’s the cricket score, Twitter feed, calendar events, and stocks data.
